A Positive Environment
Keep Safe Keep Active C.I.C. is a Community Interest Company, a not for profit Social Enterprise. The company director, Kelly Hennessey-Ford, and all our committed staff and volunteers have extensive knowledge and experience of dementia and are passionate about helping people Live Well with dementia.
We believe that people with dementia and their Carers deserve an optimal quality of life in their own homes and communities. We have established special social clubs for people who have dementia and their Carers, in communities in Gloucestershire.
Every Club, offered by Keep Safe Keep Active , is a local place where people who are concerned about their memory and people who have dementia, as well as their Carers, families and friends can relax, have fun and share their experiences in a positive environment, and where they can access the specialised information and support that they need.
Welcoming to All
Our clubs are welcoming to all. Anyone who has an interest in memory is welcome: people who are concerned about their memory, or that of someone they know; people who are living with dementia (diagnosed or not); and people who are caring for someone who has memory difficulties can all relax and socialise with us.
We believe that bringing people with dementia together strengthens their collective powers of recall, boosts their confidence and relieves the anxieties that can accompany dementia.
Club members determine the programme of activities at each club, which might include singing, arts and crafts, circle dancing, quizzes, games and puzzles, reminiscence, hand massage, seated exercise, guided meditation… And, of course, delicious refreshments.
For Carers Too
All of our Clubs are there for Carers. We believe that Carers’ confidence, and thus their ability to care effectively, is greatly enhanced by opportunities for sharing their experiences and gaining knowledge from other Carers, as well as from Professionals.
Carers are encouraged to join our Clubs. However, we recognise that Carers need regular breaks from their caring role so our specialised dementia respite service, with a person centred focus, is also available FREE of charge at most of our clubs.
